Mechanical Department

Aristurtle’s Mechanical Department is tasked with the design and construction of all the structural and dynamic subsystems of the single-seater car, as well as their integration into the vehicle. More specifically, the Frame & Body subteam takes on the responsibility of designing the car’s monocoque chassis, ensuring the driver’s ergonomics and safety. They are also responsible for the Overall Vehicle Assembly, ensuring seamless integration of all other systems. The Mechanical Design subteam focuses on designing individual mechanical components, studying their durability and ensuring the quality of their construction. They also handle the integration of actuators and sensors for the autonomous system. The Drivetrain subteam undertakes the study and design of the powertrain system, aiming for optimal power transfer from the electric motors to the wheels. This system is then connected and controlled by the Suspension subteam. Their goal is to enhance the car’s dynamic performance and drivability. To achieve this, they study and design the suspension geometry tailored to the car’s tires and fine-tune the stiffness and damping of the system. Finally, the Aerodynamics subteam delves into the study of airflow around the single-seater car. Their objectives are to minimize aerodynamic drag while increasing tire grip through downforce. They employ CFD analysis to design and analyze the aerodynamic package, achieving optimal performance.

Vehicle Dynamics Department

The Vehicle Dynamics department is the ultimate bridge between theoretical design and on-track performance. Our primary mission is to optimize the complex interaction between the race car and the asphalt to extract maximum mechanical grip, handling, and stability. By utilizing advanced lap time simulations (LapSim), sophisticated tire modeling, and precise suspension kinematics analysis, we determine the optimal vehicle setup for any given track. From designing the suspension geometry from scratch to analyzing live telemetry data during track testing, our engineers ensure that every mechanical and aerodynamic choice translates directly into faster lap times for our electric and autonomous vehicles.

IT Department

The IT Department serves as the digital backbone of Aristurtle, ensuring that our entire engineering and operational ecosystem runs seamlessly. We are responsible for designing, managing, and securing the team’s network infrastructure, cloud services, and centralized servers. From implementing robust cybersecurity protocols to safeguard years of invaluable engineering data, to maintaining the high-performance computing environments and DevOps pipelines required for training our Driverless AI models, we provide the critical technological foundation. Our work guarantees that every sub-team stays connected, efficient, and capable of innovating at top speed without technical bottlenecks.

Operations & Marketing Department

This department is responsible for strategic sponsor acquisition, financial management, budget allocation, and orchestrating complex logistics for our international competitions. On the marketing side, we manage public relations, digital content creation, social media presence, and corporate event organization. Furthermore, we develop and pitch the comprehensive Business Plan Presentation—a crucial static event in Formula Student competitions. It is the perfect environment for students to apply business acumen, communication skills, and strategic thinking in a fast-paced, real-world motorsport setting.
